Curry signs two-year, $116 million Warriors extension; $20 million under the max
Stephen Curry, 38, has received a two-year, $116 million contract extension from the Golden State Warriors, $20 million less than the maximum available to him.
"Yes I was presented the max," Curry said Monday at media day. The guard took the lower figure to keep familiar teammates around him for the stretch run of his career and to chase another title with the franchise where his career began.
In 2025-26, Curry drew the league's highest salary for the 109th-most production, per WAGE, a WAGE Score of 11 and the Sunk Cost tier.
He played 43 games last season, and about $28.3 million of his $59.6 million salary went to games he missed.
At $58 million a year, the extension would have been the league's 2nd-highest salary in 2025-26. Players paid that much ranked around 79th in production last season, the bar the new deal sets for its first year.
