Curry takes less to open Warriors max slot; the plan still needs him on the floor
Stephen Curry signed a two-year, $116M extension with the Golden State Warriors, leaving nearly $20M on the table to open a max slot.
The structure could give Golden State up to $64M in cap space next summer. With Nikola Jokic staying in Denver, Giannis Antetokounmpo and Karl-Anthony Towns remain possible targets.
That room only matters if Curry plays. He played 43 of 82 games last season, and about $28.3M of his salary went to games he missed, per WAGE.
Paid like the league's top earner in 2025-26, he produced like the 109th: a 11 WAGE Score, in the Sunk Cost tier.
The new deal still pays like last season's 2nd-highest salary, a level that bought about the 79th-most production.
