Duren's $200 million ask would pay for output Detroit already has

Jalen Duren, a free agent center, is expected to miss the Detroit Pistons' media day for the 2026-27 season amid a $200 million contract standoff.

Duren holds a qualifying offer to return to Detroit. It keeps a path back open but has not closed the distance between the $200 million figure and the $6.483 million salary he was last listed at.

In 2025-26, Duren was paid like the 215th player in the league and produced like the 3rd, a 97 WAGE Score in the Steal! tier, per WAGE.

That output was 18% of Detroit's production last season. The season before, he was paid like the 249th player and produced like the 11th.

By that record, a $200 million deal would price output Duren has already delivered, and would close out the surplus Detroit held on his rookie deal.

For now, his way back runs through the qualifying offer or a new deal.
