Duren could take Pistons qualifying offer; no player in his position has done so

Jalen Duren could accept a one-year qualifying offer from the Detroit Pistons as his contract standoff with the club continues, a move no player in his position has ever made.

The step would keep Duren in Detroit for one more season and send him back to the market a year later, when the Pistons would face paying full price or losing him.

In 2025-26, Duren was paid like the 215th player in the league and produced like the 3rd, per WAGE, for a 97 WAGE Score in the Steal! tier.

That output came on 3% of the Pistons' payroll and made up 18% of the team's production last season. A qualifying offer would keep that ledger for one more season before the open market sets a new price.
