Raptors trade for Kawhi Leonard and add a two-year, $115 million extension
The Raptors have traded for Kawhi Leonard and signed him to a two-year, $115 million extension, a win-now move made with Scottie Barnes at the center of the roster.
Leonard, 35, told head coach Darko Rajakovic he is there to help Barnes: "If it's Scottie's team, it's his team." He has said he is four or five years away from walking away from basketball.
The money rides on which Leonard arrives. With the Los Angeles Clippers last season, he was paid like the 14th player in the league and produced like the 10th, a 76 WAGE Score in the Smart Money tier, per WAGE.
The season before, his WAGE Score was 5. Last season he played 65 of the Clippers' 82 games.
The extension pays $57.5 million a year, a salary that would have ranked 2nd last season. Players paid about that much produced around 79th, so Toronto needs last season's Leonard again, beside Barnes.
